Back in Lisbon, and a new phase of Everywhere has begun. The 10 hour blackout that hit Portugal, Spain and parts of southern France on April 28 was a first burn for a lot of people here: totally offline, requiring innovation, generating inspiration. We have a burner WhatsApp chat here called Lisburnnn — now we’ve had our first (unofficial/very unannounced) event.
Earlier that day I visited the venue with Claudia where we’ll do our first (announced/pre-planned) Everywhere pop-up with Origem, May 22-24. Initial planning for this was covered in last week’s post, but now having seen the space, there is even more potential. It led to us asking about taking it over for the rest of the year to make it a kind of Center (of decentralization) Camp for Lisbon Everywhere.
We also have a solid idea for how to use it as a launching pad for the Sharing (Art Everywhere x Regenerative Nature/Biophilic) Fund, being sketched out here, which also moved forward this past week. The first page talks about phases, while the second part deals with the standing grant invitation for project submissions.
Maria will be taking the title of Lead Art Curator* for Everywhere, and will begin doing some outreach to Bonjuk Bay, Burning Man, and other select artists. Burning Man continues to provide grants to artists who create things within BRC, but last year they concluded their global grants for art. So that’s a place where Everywhere can take the baton with an updated vision. BWB were very involved in that and we are already in contact with the person who used to manage the Grants program there.
More framing-quality posters have been printed in Lisbon for anyone interested, and we’ll also do another run of stickers here with vinyl coating so they hold up longer, especially outdoors, on popular spots like the back of mobile phones/laptops and water bottles.
Thanks for reading and for being you.
*Everyone is allowed/encouraged to choose an Everywhere title, and even get business cards printed! Cards printed on wildflower or herb seed paper are especially encouraged. “Here’s my card, you can throw it away.” Would be great to see some of these titles confusing people on LinkedIn. It’s definitely trickster season.
